Day 31- Asofra to Grañon

Day 31- Asofra to Grañon

Well as if the guy exposing himself yesterday and the ghost town with no soul today weren't enough weirdness, I get into Grañon late in the afternoon because I waited until after mass (1:45pm) because I wanted to see the chickens in the cathedral. My guidebook says there is only one albergue in Grañon and I know it's a Parroquial, so it should be near the church. I pass the church and don't see any signs of an albergue. So I pass the church and see an albergue sign with stuffed animals. So I figure this is it and I open the door, I don't see anyone and then some young guys are going out and I ask them where is reception. They point up. I go up. No one is there. Some guy lying on a bunk points at a door that says Privado (private). I go toward the door and say hola loudly. This big guy comes out, points says there is bathroom and shower, there is bed, dinner at eight, breakfast at six, and goes back in his room. Weird, I think. I look at the bed and the pillow case has obviously been used a lot and not washed. The bed has dirt and crumbs on it. I ask the young guys that are there where is the place for washing and drying clothes. They don't know. Obviously they are not wearing clean clothes. So I am wondering why so many people I know love the albergue in Grañon. But I decide to make the best of it, brush off the bed, put a shirt over the pillow and go to the bar for a café con leche. There I run into Michael who is in the Parroquial Albergue and asks why I am not there, at the albergue in BACK of the church and I realize I am in the wrong place. What a goose! Oh thank God. I run and grab my stuff and take it over to the right albergue. It is clean and friendly and full of people I have met on the Camino as well as new people to meet. It was a wonderful evening with a communal meal for 46 people, then everyone helping with clean up and dishes and finally a time of reflection in the church choir loft.

When I was walking up a steep dusty road a couple of cars went by and slowed down to try not to kick up too much dust. Then a guy just went flying staying me with dust and pebbles. I have to admit my first reaction was not exactly polite, but I did quickly get into "sucks to be him" going through life spraying people and then to compassion for whatever pain or discomfort causes him to disregard others. The transition from pissed to compassion is getting smoother and quicker with practice.

Then I didn't see any more cars and I was just bopping along to the music on my iPod when I thought I heard a noise, then I realized I really did hear a noise and it was a car behind me trying to get by. I jumped. Then I thought of the cows at Orisson and how the cars honked a few times and if they didn't moved they nudged with the bumper I think I was about to get nudged with the bumper. lol

Well good night my friends.
