Day 55 - Bercianos - September 8 - Day 8 of 15

Day 55 - Bercianos - September 8 - Day 8 of 15

Well we are full again. I am dead tired. Because we didn't close the doors last night until midnight, I didn't get to sleep until 12:30 am and we get up at 5:40 to fix breakfast. I thought I would get a nap today, but we had some other pilgrims came by from the other albergue, after our pilgrims left, looking for coffee, so Rosa made some more coffee and Merusa made some more tostado and I did some clean up. After they left we had some coffee and tostado. Then the patio had to be cleaned today because of the storm (tormento) so that took me two hours in addition to cleaning the kitchen, sweeping and mopping the floors in the kitchen (cocina), dining room (comedor), and two other rooms, cleaning the stove and wiping everything else down. The amusing part of this is that I pay somebody else to clean my house. I haven't done house work for at least 35 years. lol.

So by the time all this was done and I grabbed a quick shower, it was time to put out some glasses, cold water with lemon, caramelos, and fruit as secos; then open the doors to waiting pilgrims. We are full again. As part of the fiesta there will be a performance by some flamenco dancers from Seville. Granada Cordoba and Seville are like the best places to see flamenco dancing in Spain. I love flamenco. It is so dramatic. My youngest daughter, Leea, and I saw quite a bit of it when we were here in 2009. So our whole albergue is going to see the dancing at 7 pm. Dinner will be at 8:30, then clean up and our moment of reflection. Apparently the Discoteca Móvil is performing again tonight, so Rosa and Merusa decided to keep the doors open until midnight again. I think I will go to sleep earlier. Rosa always stays up past midnight. I don't know how she does it. I'm thinking of taking a rest day after this before I start walking again.

Well it's 11:22 pm and I just got into bed. The flamenco dancing was so much fun. It was not professional dancers. It was clearly a school. There were people all ages. It was a different style than I was used to, not so dramatic. This was more smiles. And because it was on an asphalt street you couldn't really hear the rhythm of the feet stamping. The performances I have seen have been on wooden floors so you can hear a sound each time the foot hits the floor.
